Conference 2015 - Rise He Calleth Thee
When the call of faith rises up to God, his call of faith
reaches down to us. Where the call of faith and grace meets, miracles takes
place. Desperate deserves desperate outcry for succor and desperate remedy.
This was the situation in this 2015 conference theme. This son of Timaeus case
had lasted and extended so wide that he has become stigmatized. He lost his
real identity and became identified by his ugly situation. When I was younger
and had little knowledge of the scriptures, I thought the man’s name was
‘blind’ and his surname ‘bartimeus’. Bar(Grk) means ‘son of’ while Timaeus was the surname, meaning ‘son of
Timaeus. He was identified with his blindness and people began to refer to him
as the blind son of Timaeus. But, his condition was to change by not only having
Jesus pass his way but by also responding to the Lord’s presence and call.
Every move of the master is purposeful. He came to seek and save, he came to
set the captive free, he came to comfort the mourners, he came to give sight to
the blind to restore hearing to the deaf and heal the broken hearted, he came
to announce the acceptable year(time, period) of divine grace.
He came to change your story, he came to re-write your
history. Jesus the same yesterday, today and forever (Heb 13:8). He passed the
needy son of Timaeus way yesterday, today he is passing your way, never miss
the moment by religiosity. Shift away the crowd and their noise and gain his
attention.
This man did not go about blaming God for his blindness, he
was focused. One thing is paramount to him – to regain his sight. He had heard
of Jesus Christ the son of david in the Sunday school, that when he comes he
would deliver the bound, show mercy and heal the sick. How long he must have
waited for the scriptures to be fulfilled on his behalf. The day came and he
was not going to let anything, the crowd, the devils whisper of impossibility,
the past disappointment from priests or doctors, anything within or without –
to hinder him from receiving God’s mercy and grace. He cried out to him “who in
the days of his flesh…. Offered prayers and supplications with strong crying
and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard..” – Heb
5:7. He too like Jesus in mk 14:33-34 was sorrowful and very heavy hearted.
Therefore, He cried out to Jesus and said “ Jesus, thou son of David, have
mercy on me”. When charged by many to stop embarrassing himself and the Lord,
he cried the more a great deal. Thou son of David, have mercy on me”.
And Jesus, who could not, cannot and never will resist the
cry of faith, for mercy for his creatures, “stood still and commanded him to
come”.
No, he was never embarrassed. Our desperate cry for mercy
never embarrasses him. It’s only our proud hearts that is embarrassed. It is
our needless ego that is uncomfortable. No! Never the caring master and lover
of our soul. How long he’s been waiting for our response to his call of grace,
“come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, I will give you rest” Mat
11:38. The opposers became the messengers of good news, hear them, “be of good
comfort, rise: he calleth thee”, “And he, casting away his garment, rose and
came to Jesus”
This is your season to rise up from your predicament. Can’t
you hear the sweet sound of his voice calling you up? You’ve sat down too long
in penury, pain, poverty and stagnation. Rise! He calleth thee. Rise in faith!
Accept his mercy and grace by faith.
His upward call is reverberating around the atmosphere. As
the blind Bartimaeous did not allow his long, hopeless condition to deafen him
from the loving voice of the master, do not allow yours to block your ears from
his call. In the kingdom, the process of recovery begins from the ears. Isaiah
said “Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live” Ish
55:3. Jesus himself said in John 5:25, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, the
hour is coming and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the son of
God. And they that hear shall live” faith receives from grace. This faith
cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God” Rom 10:17
Make this season a season of listening, God still speaks.
The word of God is quick and (life-giving) and powerful (dynamic). It has the
potency to bring life to any dead or dying situation. Jesus will change your
situation and identity today if only you can listen and respond in faith to his
call.
He has sent me and the team of ministers to you. Our message
is simple, “Rise, he calleth thee”. We have vowed to be faithful to him in
disseminating this message primarily to you for your good. In Matthews account,
which differs slightly from Luke’s and Marks, they were two blind folks and their cry was “ have mercy
on us O lord, thou son of david” mt 20:30. In verse 31 the multitude rebuked
them because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, have mercy
on us son of david”.
They should hold their peace? Who said so? Religion? The law
of decency? Gentility? Where were they all these years that these folks were
held down from light, peace and what others have been enjoying? Desperate
situation needs desperate remedy. “The kingdom of heaven suffereth violence and
the violent takes it by force” Mtt 11:12 – Dare to be violent after th order of
the kingdom of heaven. Dare to be violent after the order of the kingdom of
heaven. Dare to take what belongs to you!
I believe that Matthews account is never contradictory but
explanatory. The blind son of Emaeus is the historical patient of Jesus day in
the flesh while the second is anyone of any age and generation who will hear
his voice and Rise up in response – You and I.
“AND JESUS STOOD STILL”
Arrested by the faith of the needy, Jesus stood still.
Arrested by the cry of a desperate man, Jesus stood still. Paralyzed by love,
in response to cry for mercy, Jesus stood still. In defiance of the multitude
Jesus stood still. In pursuit of his purpose on earth, Jesus stood still. “And
Jesus stood still and called them and said, what will ye that I shall do unto
you? They said unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened, so, Jesus had
compassion on them and touched their eyes and immediately their eyes received
sight and they followed him”. Mtt 20:32 – 34

GOD DOES NOT EXIST?
This
argument continues and I felt the urge to put things into perspective maybe for
myself and one other person. Christians refer to God as the creator and ruler
of the universe and source of all moral authority – the Supreme Being. In
classical theism, God is characterized as the metaphysically ultimate being
(the first, timeless, absolutely simple, and sovereign being who is devoid of
any anthropomorphic qualities). Despite extensive writing on the nature of God,
these classical theists did not believe that God could be defined. They
believed that it would contradict the transcendent nature of God for mere
humans to define him – that must be why God gave Moses the simple and most
effective definition: “I am”, because we can form no idea of Him except in so
far as that idea is analogous to something which comes within the range of our
own experience. Existence is commonly held to be that which objectively
persists independent of one’s presence – that which exists is with an objective
reality, so it dispels subjectivity. Epistemology is the investigation of what
distinguishes justified belief from opinion; it studies criteria of truth,
defining “primary truths” inherently accepted in the investigation of
knowledge. The first is existence. It is inherent in every analysis. It is
self-evident, a priori (knowledge or justification independent of experience)
nature cannot be consistently doubted, since a person objecting to existence
according to some standard of proof must implicitly accept the standard’s
existence as a premise. A very scintillating discourse, which begs the
question, how then is it possible that God does not exist?
Atheists
generally maintain that arguments for the existence of God provide insufficient
reason to believe. Additionally, some contend that it is possible to
affirmatively disprove the existence of God, or of certain characteristics
traditionally attributed to God such as perfection – Perfection, is broadly, a
state of completeness and flawlessness. The word perfection derives from the
Latin perfectio, and perfect from perfectus. These expressions in turn
come from perficio – to finish, to
bring to an end. Perfectio (n) thus
literally means a finishing and perfect (us),
finished. The genealogy of the concept of perfection reaches back beyond
Latin, to Greek. The Greek equivalent of the Latin perfectus was teleos. The
latter Greek expression generally had concrete referents, such as a perfect
physician or a perfect social system. Hence, the Greek teleiotes was not yet so fraught with abstract and superlative
associations as would be the Latin perfectio
or the modern perfection. To avoid the latter associations, the Greek term
has generally been translated as completeness rather than perfection. The
oldest definition of perfection, fairly precise and distinguishing the shades
of the concept, goes back to Aristotle. In Book Delta of the metaphysics, he
distinguishes three meanings of the term, or rather three shades of one
meaning, but in any case three different concepts. That is perfect:
a.
Which
is complete – which contains all the requisite parts;
b.
Which
is so good that nothing of the kind could be better;
c.
Which
has attained its purpose.
The first
of these concepts is fairly well subsumed within the second. Between those two
and the third, however, there arises duality in concept. Thomas Aquinas, in the
Summa Theological, expressed this duality when he distinguished twofold
perfection: when a thing is perfect in itself – as he put it, in its substance;
and when it perfectly serves its purpose. Flipping through history of our
scientific and technological advancement, we decidedly continue to strive for
perfection with our numerous discoveries and innovations. However, since
concepts of perfection are connected to notions of God and we cannot seem to
accept that which is perfect, how then do we recognize or relate to perfection?
Our race was always designed to innovate and discover, but it doesn’t make what
we do or don’t discover exist more or less. Faith is not mere concept of the
notion of God, but rather it reaches far beyond, because it is the very
substance of God – “Those who come to God must believe that He is, and He
rewards those who diligently seek Him”.
Metaphysics
is a matter about which, most of all, we desire to know the truth, but reason
only perceives that which it produces after its own design. The unconditioned
does not lie in things as we know them, or as they are given to us, but in
things as they are in themselves, beyond the range of our cognition. For that
which of necessity impels us to transcend the limits of human experience and of
all phenomena is the unconditioned.
If you
have gone through books as I have, then you can call this gumption. However,
I’m out of my depths here, so I’ll let God handle the rest..

Discovering 'God's Business' for your life - Lk 2:49
At twelve Jesus was zealous after the father's business (vs 42). At that age he first discovered that the father's business begins at the house of God. He had never attended a seminar on how to discover one's purpose in life. He was not searching for God's particular purpose for him as many are rightly doing today. One can be busy searching for his/her life purpose through seminars, buying and reading every book that promises an answer, that time is a waste outside God's plan for his life. Jesus knew where to begin and how to fit into God's plan for his life. Aftee the feast of passover in Jerusalem, Jesus enjoyed it so much that he stayed back with the leaders in the temple, obviously those that ministered in one way or the other during the feast, ''seating in the midst of the doctors, both hearing, asking and answering questions. And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers'' - Jn 2:46, 47. When the mother questioned his action, his reply was simple 'I must be about my Father's business'.
We too must therefore be about our Father's business, this business begins from the church - yes, the local church. Discover what you can do to grow the work in your local church. That is how to begin.
Questions
1. How much time do you give to the fellowship in the house of God?
2. Jesus discovered His father's business and made it his own, what of you?
Prayer
Dear father, I want your business to be mine. Fill my heart with the love for your house. Help me to long for your house like David and Jesus, to behold your face and enquire at your sanctuary. Thank You Lord as i receive the grace this morning in Jesus name.

Learning From Joseph's Life - Genesis 50:20
God prepares lives he will use to save many people, but more often than non does it in a way that is unimaginable. He passes such lives through much contradictory circumstances of life. The journey to your dream land usually start towards the opposite direction - such was Joseph's. Don't be afraid to be pulled apart as long as it is in the hands of God in action. You may ask me, how can I know that this trouble is coming from God's hand. Do I have inner peace in the midst of the problem? As long as you are in God's will and not suffering from your sin, peace will attend your heart even in trouble. When it seems like you are loosing, you are actually learning, though you may not know. Whatever experience you pass through, avoid murmuring or fretting because that will drain your strength. WHEN LIFE KNOCKS YOU DOWN, BE SURE IT KNOCKS YOU ON YOUR KNEES. In whatever experience you are exposed to, seek divine promotion rather than human or self-promotion. Joseph wanted the cup bearer to recommend him as a gifted dream interpreter but he forgot him in prison. But when God's time came he was remembered. You will be remembered in Jesus name. Gen 40:23. Only God takes credit for our up-liftment in life.
Question
1. Are you worried that your dream seems far apart from your present position, how are you handling such contradictions?
2. When life's experience knocks you down, what, according to this devotional, should you do?
3. Forgotten but never forsaken, how did this play out in Joseph's life?
Prayer
Lord, help me to see the contradictions in my experiences as a stepping stone to my maturity and grant me grace to patiently wait on you for promotion. Help me realize that I'm blessed to be a blessing to others at the point of my promotion after the challenges. Thank you Lord. IJN.

Journey to the Wealthy Place - Psalm 66:8-12
When God called Abraham, he did not tell so much about the nature of the journey but as his nature is He never failed to tell about what blessings he would inherit at the end of his travail, a land that flows with milk and honey.
The journey may be rough, long and dangerous but ''preserves our lives'' vs 9. The wealthy place is too good for the untrained and uncultured so he handles the training personally to prove us so that we will not mishandle as to lose the blessing. He tries us as silver is tried and sometimes we are allowed to fall into to the enemies net, not to destroy and afflict us, see vs 12.
Please note that some of the things we attribute to satan is not really devil that should take the credit. God is the 'thou' in the test not satan. Jesus taught us to ask God to deliver us from evil. He is the shepherd not satan. He may lead us through the valley of the shadow of death, he makes sure we go through and not end up there. We go through to the place where the table is set before us.
Always look ahead beyond your present pain and difficulty, there is a wealthy place ahead and that is where you will get to for your portion and inheritance.
''when thou passeth through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee; when thou walketh through the fire; thou shall not be burnt; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee'' Isaiah 43:2.
Questions
1. How does God train us in our Journey to be able to enjoy for long, the wealthy place?
2. What kind of encounter are we allowed to have with the waters and fire?
3. Why must we not be burned though we pass through fire and overflown by the rivers though we pass through them?
Prayer
My Father, grant me inward assurance of your presence as I pass through the waters and fire of this life. May thy spirit keep me assured of my safety, as he helps me to walk in the parts you chant for me in Jesus name. Amen.

Get Your Heart Right -2 Chronicles 25:2
Note 'but not with a perfect heart' deals with motives and hidden falsehood in the heart. Jeremiah said that the heart is deceptive above all things and desperately wicked, who can know it? But God Searches our hearts. Judas kissed the master but not of love but betrayal. on-lookers must have thought otherwise, but Jesus was not deceived. Many deceive themselves thinking they can deceive God, no not even with beautifully worded songs. Amazaih's imperfection of heart sooner than later manifested vs 14 ''Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them'' and 27 ''Now after the time that Amaziah did turn away from following the LORD they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish: but they sent to Lachish after him, and slew him there''. Jesus warned his disciples not to be like the pharisees who stand in the market places making long prayer for show.
Prayer is supposed to be fellowship with God through the holy spirit, but it can be for mere religion and showmanship - so also fasting, giving and every christian service. Set your heart in order and be sure of your motives.
Questions
1. How can i know if my motive is wrong or right
2. Who do you seek to impress with your actions, men, self or God
3.Can you remember past actions of yours that though right was not with a perfect heart
Prayers
O Lord God, My father, I ask for Grace to adjust my actions to always be from a right motive so I will always please you and attract your blessing. Create inme a perfect heart and renew the right Spirit within me in Jesus name.

Grace 1- Titus 2:11,12
Grace has always been defined as unmerited favor, but its scope goes beyond that. It has more to do with abilities we do not have by ourselves but which God gives to us to do what we can't do by our own strength. The Greek word 'Charis' translated severally as grace is also from where 'gifts of the spirit' is translated. It refers to enablement by the Holy Spirit; so the scripture talks of grace in 2Cor 9:8 ''Grace abounds toward you, so that... you will abound in every good work...''
Grace to speak in love so as not to hurt people - Col 4:6; Grace to give 2Cor 8:7, etc.
In our text we discovered teaches (that is enables, informs and empowers) to deny ungodliness and worldly lust. It also has positive work, helping us to live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world, as we look forward to His coming.
Always bear in mind that grace does not in any way mean living licentious, sinful life and putting the sin under the blood, No:
Titus 2:14 made it clear that salvation is from sin and all iniquity and purifies us unto God, giving us the burning desire to do good works.
Questions
1. Can one who has received grace fall into sin?
2. Can one saved by grace practice sinful living?
3. What happens when we sin after receiving salvation by grace? Psalm 19:7
Prayer
Dear Lord, never allow the devil to deceive me into living carelessly through misunderstanding of the true biblical grace, help me yield to the power of the indwelling spirit to work out the salvation he is graciously working in my heart. May i not receive the grace of God in vein.

Dear Samson2 - The Redemption
Poem - Dear Samson 2 - The Redemption
Dear Samson:
You’ve been avoiding me, and I’m still trying to figure out why…
I called you out and separated you from the others that passed by…
You caught my attention and I decided to make you my friend…
I shared my possessions with you, and your life I tried to amend…
Even when you couldn’t trace your steps, I led you to safety…
You weren’t perfect, but then I did all I could to make sure you were free…
But at a point you strayed…
Like a sheep without a shepherd, you went your own way…
All you wanted was your definition of freedom, the kind that comes with pleasures…
You wanted all there was to life, its gold, silver, and earthly treasures…
I offered you so much more than just momentary fun…
All you needed was patience, but you’re so stubborn…
Now you’re stuck in a mud and can’t come out…
You’ve been identified as a thief, now they want to take you out…
You are scared, running and hiding from your accuser’s wrath…
You’ll be burnt at the stake without mercy if you’re caught…
Yes, you’re guilty, yes you deserve it…
Even though you try to deny it, we both know you truly did it…
But that’s where I come in, a friend indeed…
I stepped in and took your place, to help a friend in need…
You watched as they tore my clothes to pieces…
Crushed my head with stones, stripped me naked, and left me with bruises…
The shame and pain I felt as blood rushed from my head…
All because of my love for you, I died in your stead…
Where were your friends, heroine Delilah, greed, and the others you had on your phone…
They’re nowhere to be found, they all ran and left you on your own…
I stood before you, professing my love without borders, unconditional, without end…
Greater love has no man that this, a friend lay down his life for his friend…
Now you can walk freely with new clothes…
Where are your accusers, they’ve turned back to their homes…
To them, the traitor has been terminated…
But where your sin abounds, my grace remains sufficient…
Dad awaits, I tore the veil so you can go boldly through the door…
Neither do I condemn you, be on your way, go and sin no more…
Remember on this day, as the world celebrates Love…
As your hair begins to grow, and your problems are being solved…
Greater Love has no man than this, as written by your brother John…
That a friend lays down His life, and gives eternal life in return…
Your Friend,
Dead, Buried, and Risen and waiting your return.

Sunday Morning Victory - Luke 24:1-6
Jesus died, Jesus was buried; Jesus rose from the dead. This is the Gospel preach by the Apostle (1 Cor 5:3-5) and this the gospel we preach today. We preach Jesus ''who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel'' - 2 Tim 1:10.
That faithful early Sunday morning Jesus Christ gave a technical knock out to man's greatest enemy namely sin and death.
'' the sting of death is sin and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks to God who giveth us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ'' - 1 Cor 15:56,57.
''Therefore my beloved brethren be strong, unmovable always abounding in the works of the Lord, foreasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord'' - 1 Cor 15:58.
Questions
1. Should the believer be afraid of death?
2. What 3 aspects of Christ's experiences forms the Gospel?
- Read Heb 2:14,15 and compare with above.
Prayer
That God by the spirit revealed to you the depth of victory over death and ''Him that had the power of death that is the devil'', so that you will be forever free from the fear of death that you never be subject to its bondage anymore in Jesus name.
Pray that more abundant grace be released and the gift of righteousness be evidenced in your life so you reign in life by Christ Jesus. Rom 5:17

Self Discipline or Applied Discipline - Genesis 20:6
Paul said ''... i put my body under subjection'' - 1 Cor 9:27. In Gen 20, Abraham afraid that the people of the land had no fear of God, told Abimelech that Sarah was his sister because her beauty might cause the king to slay him for her sake. The king hearing that she was his sister took Sarah and would have slept with her but for divine intervention. God made him impotent and disciplined him, would have killed him if he persisted. This is applied discipline enforced by God to hold us back from sin. God can afflict us for a season but like Paul we should cooperate with the Holy spirit in us to discipline our body when they try to lead us to sin.
Subjection (according to 1 Cor 9:27) is to the word of God and the spirit of God, this is self discipline. God will rather have us exercise self disciple through the help of the indwelling spirit that inflict discipline on us. Jesus said we should cut off any body member that causes us to sin, not with the use of knife but through self discipline we should treat such member as though they were not alive.
Questions
1. Have you experienced any form of applied discipline?
2. How can i keep my body under subjection?
3. Why did paul in 1Cor 9:27 keep his body under subjection?
Prayer
Father, thank you for the Holyspirit given to help me rule over my emotions and body, for by him you work in me both to will and to do of your good pleasure. Help to always be submissive to His leading, so that I be not cast away at the last day. Thank you Lord for answer in Jesus name. Amen

When Down and Out - Romans 8:31
When it looks like you are left to yourself, and all seem to be against you, you can be rest assured that God never forgets his own. King Saul and his army spent the most of his life pursuing David to kill him. People betrayed him and he kept running for safety, yet his psalms were filled with songs of praises and confession of confidence in God who remained his hiding place. You are never destitute until God in response to your actions turns away his countenance from you. ''God has said, I will never leave or forsake you''-Heb 13;5. The water of Hebrew is referring to God's promise in the O.T to Israel. He knows that the church is the isreal of God and therefore has right to all such promises to Abraham and His seed. He was claiming Deut 31;6 where moses encouraged Israel to ''Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee''. Claim these promises boldly and verbally, ''So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me''- Heb 13;6.
Living intelligently means not living your experiences to chances but finding out what God's plan is for your life as revealed in the scriptures and aligning yourself with it. Faith attracts God, so build up your faith.
Love God and demonstrate it, for wonderful things are in stock for those who love him, invest into Kingdom business, Love his children. Gain God's approval and forget about those who peach against you. Spend your energy developing relationship with God and you will never be out though sometimes down.
Questions
1. Why must we refuse to be out even when down?
2. What does it mean to live intelligently as a christian?
3. Why should we not bother much about people negative actions towards us?
Prayer
O Lord, when life's problem weigh me down, remember your promises upon which to rest my hope. Never allow me to forsake developing fellowship with you. Teach me to seek to develop my faith and love for you in Jesus name.

When You Have Sinned - Psalm 51; 1-20
Samuel confronted Saul of his sins but he refused to
acknowledge it, defending it was permitted by him subject for a sacrifice to
God. Sin is simply acting in defiance of God. At another time, he couldn’t wait
for Prophet Samuel to make the sacrifice that Precedes battle. When confronted,
he started making excuses. 1 Sam 13 vs 11 and Samuel said unto him ‘’what hast
thou done? thou hast done foolishly. Thou hast not kept the commandments of the
Lord thy God which he commanded thee. For now would the Lord have established
thy kingdom upon Israel forever. But now, thy kingdom shall not continue’’ 1 Sam
13 vs 13. When in 2 sam12, Nathan the prophet confronted David of his sin, he
replied in vs 13 ‘’ and David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the
Lord’’ and Nathan said unto David, ‘’ the Lord also has put away thy sins, thou
shall not die’’
Don’t begin to hide from God and his servants and your Christian
brethren. They are your family. God is merciful and gracious. Judas perished
because he hid his soul from God. Peter wept before God after denying the
Christ and was restored. Jesus finally said to him ‘’feed my Lamb’’
When we sin and start running, we will continue to sin and
there will remain no grace for such a sinning saint. Sin distances us from God,
repentance bridges the gap and brings restoration. Take time to go through
psalm 51 vs 1-20 in a quiet place and at a quiet time. God despises such
sacrifices because as David his successor, said in psalm 51 vs 17 ‘’the
sacrifice of God are a broken spirit and a
contrite heart, O God, thou will not despise’’.
When Christians sin, they break fellowship with God but
retains their Son-ship, there only require to seek restoration fellowship. When
fellowship is broken, joy of the Lord is lost.
Questions
- How do I know when I have sinned against God?
- When God hides his face from our sins, on what does he focus it?
- Why is it important we quickly acknowledge our sins rather than increase our offerings and tithes to appease God?
Prayer:
O Lord God, the merciful, faithful and just God,
grant unto thy servants forgiveness and cleanse me from all unrighteousness.
Cast me not away from your presence, take not thy holy spirit from me, so that
I do not become reprobate. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation and uphold
me with thy free spirit. Thank you Lord for answered prayers in Jesus Name.
